North Face Womens Down Jacket

It’s hard to beat the comforting warmth of down and for the active outdoor woman it is hard to beat The North Face womens down jacket for meeting the cold of winter activities. With 40 years of outdoor gear design and testing it is hard to beat the durability and quality of their winter jackets.

The North Face uses only Hungarian goose down in all their products which is tested in three different stages before it is used. Loft, moisture resistance, and lofting ability after compression must meet stringent testing standards before the down fill is used in their down jackets.

The other critical component is fill power. This measures the warmth-to-weight ratio and compressibility, both of which make down such a great insulating material. Fill power is measured by taking an ounce of goose down and placing it in a graduated cylinder then measuring the volume of space it occupies in cubic inches. The North Face uses goose down that ranges from 550 to 900 fill in their jackets, sleeping bags, and other products.

550 Fill Down is a lightweight insulator that has a high weight-to-warmth rating.

600 Fill Down is the next step up and provides good insulating value across a range of temperatures.

700 Fill Down provides superior insulation for extreme cold in a lightweight design.

800+ Fill Down has a high cluster-to-feather ratio and provides outstanding warmth at a lighter weight then lesser downs. It also has an increased loft and compressibility factor that provides superior warmth and performance.

900 Fill Down is the highest quality down available on the commercial market today. Used exclusively by The North Face it is the most compressible down with the highest warmth-to-weight ratio.

Their womens down jackets also come with Durable Water Resistant (DWR) finishes applied to both the outer fabric lining and the zippers, creating jackets that repel water in even the wettest of conditions. By applying an enhanced hydrophobic treatment beforehand the DWR will more strongly adhere for a longer extended lifetime.

You can’t beat a North Face womens down jacket for the warmth and comfort it will provide during all your winter activities.
